06/2/08 - Gatemen Open up Season with 3 Preseason Game vs. Columbus
The Wareham Gatemen open the 2008 season on June 8th at 7:00pm for the first of 3 preseaon games vs. the Columbus All-Americans for the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. For past few years, Columbus has made the trip from Ohio to play exhibitions games vs. Cape League opponents.
Last year, the two teams split a pair of games played in Wareham. Columbus won the first game 2-1 and Wareham took the second game by a score of 1-0. The on-going NCAA Divison I Baseball Tournament is underway and many Gatemen roster players are participating. As a result, the Gatemen signed a number of players after this years CCBL tryout held at Spillane Field to fill out the roster for these games. See our roster page for a complete list.
