08/17/09 - George Springer Named to Cape Cod Baseball League 2009 Year-End All-Star Team

CARY, NC: The Cape Cod Baseball League has announced their 2009 Year-End All-Star Team and Wareham Gatemen George Springer (UCONN) has been named one of the honored outfielders. Springer was one of the hottest hitters in the league during the later part of the season and was Wareham's top overall offensive performer. This is his 2nd post-season award after being presented with the Silvia Bigelow Award as the top positional player for the Wareham Gatemen.
Springer hit .261 with 3 homers and a league 5th best 25 rbi this past season. The Big East Freshman of the Year from the University of Connecticut also stole 12 bases and led the team with 35 hits.
