Gatemen fans hope Springer returns to Wareham for his second season.  The reigning All-CCBL team member and holder of the Silvia Bigelow award as Wareham’s top offensive player, George has been invited to tryout for team USA in Cary, NC at the conclusion of the college season.  If he does come back to the Cape, he brings with him a host of honors; including being honored as the Big East Freshman of the Year in 2009 after breaking the freshman homerun record at UCONN.  George was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2008 and is also familiar with Spillane Field - having played in the 2007 Cape Cod High School Classic in '07.  This season, Springer was named to the Big-East's All-Conference 2nd team.  On the season, he hit .337 with 18 homers and 62 rbi.  He also stole 33 of 35 stolen bases.
