Jack Armstrong returns to the Gatemen for his second summer and should anchor the starting pitching rotation.  He was named a CCBL All-Star in 2009; having the opportunity to pitch at Fenway Park. Jack was also honored with the Albert Bigelow Award given annually to Wareham’s top pitcher.  Armstrong finished the season 4-1 with a 2.57 era. Jack Armstrong is the son of former MLB and former Gatemen star Jack Armstrong.  He entered Vanderbilt as a highly recruited player after being drafted by the Texas Rangers.  He was repeatedly honored as a top national prospect -- including being named a top 200 prospect by Perfect Game.  Jack played at Spillane Field in 2007 at the H.S. Cape Cod Classic.   For the Commodores in 2010, Armstrong finished the regular season 7-2 and had a 3.93 era and was considered one of the top starters in the Southeastern Conference.
