04/27/08 - Message from John and Patty Wylde
On September 14th, 2007 President and GM John Wylde was diagnosed with cancer of the liver. John has been treated at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston following his scheduled surgery and has passed along the following message:
"Unfortunately the news from the doctors at Beth Israel was not good. The cancer has spread and is therefore inoperable. John is resting comfortably and looking forward to returning to Wareham soon. He wishes everyone to know that the Wareham Gatemen organization is fully prepared for our 2008 season. We will keep you updated as further developments occur. Your support has been overwhelming and will always be remembered and cherished by both Patty and John."
Update as of March 28, 2008:
"I have now undergone 6 chemotherapy treatments. The good news is that the medicine selected seems to have been the perfect choice. Blood levels /measurements are all working as well as anyone could have hoped. The diagnosis remains unchanged; however my doctors now feel that I can anticipate living throughout the summer - my principal goal! I will have another cat-scan next week - the most recent scan showed that the tumor has definitely decreased in size. Everything seems to be going in the right direction -
