Shea came to Washington State as a multi-sport athlete; starring in baseball, football and basketball.  He was honored as the Junior Male Athlete of the Year in Idaho.  Shea had a great freshman year for the Cougars, finishing 4th on the team in hitting at .316 with 1 homer and 29 rbi.  He started in 51 of the 52 games in which he played.  Shea tied for the team lead in doubles with 17 and had a slugging percentage of .440
