Today is already the third matchup of the season between the Firebirds and the Gatemen. The Firebirds have already made their only visit of the season to Wareham. The two teams previously met for a doubleheader on June 17.
In game one of the doubleheader, the Gatemen trailed 3-1 in the last of the seventh, but stormed back to steal a 4-3 win. With two runners on base, Austin Shenton hit a walk-off 3-run homer to cap the comeback.
In game two, the Firebirds routed the Gatemen 10-4 as they recorded 16 hits in that contest. All five Gatemen pitchers who threw in that game allowed a run.
After today, the Gatemen will play the Firebirds one last time when they travel back to Orleans on July 28.
