Game 30 Preview: Gatemen go for win 18, take on division rival Commodores

FALMOUTH – The Wareham Gatemen (17-10-1) head over to Falmouth today to take on the Commodores (13-14-1) at 6 p.m. at Guv Fuller Field.

The Gatemen won their game last against the Cotuit Kettleers 8-2 to get back in the win column following a tie on Thursday night. Will Proctor recorded the win yesterday as he went five innings just allowing one run while scattering seven hits through his outing. Jaren Horn threw three innings in relief of Garcia and kept the good times rolling for Wareham as he struck out seven Kettleers.

Cade Cavalli hopes to lower his 3.37 ERA in his start tonight against Falmouth (via Caroline O'Connor).

The Gatemen offense had a big night yesterday after scoring just two runs on Thursday. Sahid Valenzuela and Austin Shenton each recorded three hits and scored five combined runs. Wareham scored six runs within the first two innings of the game yesterday as they cruised to the easy win.

Falmouth lost yesterday 4-2 to the YD Red Sox, but still have been playing good baseball as of late. The Commodores are 6-4 in their last 10 and own a +12 run differential, which is good for third best in the league

In the loss to YD yesterday, Will Ethridge took the loss going 4.1 innings allowing three runs on eight hits. The Commodores offense got just six hits, but they also worked seven walks from the Red Sox pitchers. However, they were still just able to score the two runs.

RHP Cade Cavalli (0-0, 3.37 ERA) takes the mound today for the Gatemen one day after starting in the field at first base. Cavalli is coming off his longest pitching appearance of the season as he went four innings against the YD Red Sox in game Wareham lost 6-5 on July 1. Cavalli allowed two hits in that game surrendering one run and walked three hitters.

RHP Tyler Dyson (0-1, 3.60 ERA) opposes Cavalli today and makes his second start of the summer. Dyson joins the Commodores from the University of Florida where he just completed his sophomore campaign. In his first Cape outing of the summer, Dyson went five innings and allowed two runs in a loss to the Bourne Braves on July 8.
