Wareham Gatemen players spent this morning, July 19, at Keystone Place at Buzzards Bay belting out various songs with the residents of Keystone.
The players and a few of the residents gathered together in the Keystone theater room once the players had arrived. Everyone took their seats and prepared themselves for a morning filled of off-key and monotone singing.
Gatemen players Gian Martellini and Ryan Kreidler kicked off the morning of performances a duet of high school musical’s “Breaking Free.” Following their performance, Derek West gave his own rendition of Trace Adkin’s “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk.”
At first the residents were shy about singing along with the players, but when Ryan Stoudemire, Jeremy Ydens, and Joe Baran stepped up to sing the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” the residents were more than willing to join in.

Some of the other songs that made it into the performances were Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” and Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”
The morning was capped off by an all together sing-a-long of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
The Gatemen players in attendance for this morning’s community service event were Gian Martellini, Ryan Stoudemire, Brendan White, Tyler Keysor, Jeremy Ydens, Ryan Kreidler, Joe Baran, and Derek West.
For Gatemen baseball action, the Gatemen travel to Harwich to face off with the Mariners with a 6:30pm scheduled first pitch tonight, July 19. The Gatemen are looking to end a two game skid and pull into a tie for first place in the West division with a win tonight.
The next home game for the Gatemen is tomorrow night, July 20, at 6:30pm against in-division rival the Bourne Braves. Tomorrow night is also Country night at the ballpark, so be sure to wear your best country attire as best dressed will receive a prize.
