WAREHAM – The Wareham Gatemen will begin the second round of the playoffs tomorrow when they take on the Falmouth Commodore at 6:30 p.m. at Spillane Field in Wareham.
Wareham defeated the Cotuit Kettleers in round one of the playoffs as they swept the series 2-0 including winning by an 18-8 final scoring margin.
In Game 1, Wareham took a 3-0 lead before Cotuit battled back to cut the deficit to 3-2. With two outs in the ninth, the Kettleers had the bases loaded with two away, but grounded out to end the game.
In Game 2, Wareham trailed 5-4 in the seventh when Austin Shenton hit his second homer of the series to tie the game 5-5. Wareham wound up scoring 10 runs in the ninth to bust the game open as Wareham went on to win by a 15-6 score.
Falmouth won their series over the Hyannis Harbor Hawks by taking care of business in two games. In Game 1, Falmouth won 2-1 and tonight in game 2, they won 3-2 on a walk-off single by Cam Cannon.
Wareham now plays a Falmouth Commodores team that finished in third place in the West Division with 49 points. During the regular season, Wareham and Falmouth each won three games against the other to split the season series.

Game 1: Falmouth at Wareham, Wednesday Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Game 2: Wareham at Falmouth, Thursday Aug. 9 at 6 p.m.
Game 3 (if necessary): Falmouth at Wareham, Friday Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m.
