WAREHAM – The final matchup for the 2018 Cape Cod Baseball League season has been set. The Wareham Gatemen will be taking on the Chatham Anglers in a best of three series to determine the winner of the CCBL this summer.
The schedule for this playoff series is as follows:
Game 1: Chatham at Wareham, Saturday Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Game 2: Wareham at Chatham, Sunday Aug. 12 at 7 p.m.
Game 3 (if necessary): Chatham at Wareham, Monday Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
The Gatemen take on the Chatham Anglers for the first time since July 11 in the finals (via Caroline O'Connor).
Wareham, the West Division winner, will have home field advantage for the series as they had a higher point total this summer.
The Gatemen had 52 total points which was good for second in the whole Cape League (YD led with 59). Chatham, who finished second in the East Division, had 47 points.
Both teams have gone 4-0 in the playoffs so far and have swept both of their first round series.
Wareham defeated the Cotuit Kettleers in the opening round 3-2 in Game 1 and 15-6 in Game 2. In the West Division Finals, Wareham defeated the Falmouth Commodores by scores of 4-3 and 7-4.
Overall, Wareham has scored 29 runs this postseason and only allowed 12 earned runs (15 total).
Chatham enters the finals having beaten the Harwich Mariners in round one by scores of 8-3 and 8-6. In the East Division Finals, the Anglers faced the Brewster Whitecaps and also beat the number four seed in two games winning 11-6 and 3-2 respectively.
Overall, Chatham has scored 30 runs through four playoff games while allowing 17 to score.
In the regular season series between these two clubs, it was all Wareham. The Gatemen swept the Anglers, beating them in all four games they played in the regular season and outscoring them 34-12.
