Wareham look to bounce back offensively hosting the Hyannis Harbor Hawks

WAREHAM- The Wareham Gatemen return home trying to get back in the win column after 3 straight losses

Expect the Wareham Gatemen to play with a fire lit under them tonight after being shut out twice by the Orleans Firebirds in a double-header. The identity of the Gatemen this season has been offense and that disappeared yesterday against one of the best pitching staffs in the CCBL.

On the bright side the pitching was phenomenal yesterday for Wareham. Ian Bedell (Missouri) and Bryce Elder (Texas) both shined in their starts and if yesterday was a fluke for the offense, Wareham should be considered one of the most dangerous teams in the CCBL.

Hyannis has been slow out of the gates in the 2019 season. The Harbor Hawks currently boast a league worst (1-8-1) record but captured their first win of the season yesterday in game 2 of a double header against the Harwich Mariners.

In game 1 of the double-header Hyannis was defeated 7-2. The Harbor Hawks only had 3 hits in the ball game and allowed 9 hits. However Hyannis bounced back strong in game 2 securing their own 7-2 victory. The offense came alive with a total of 13 hits.

Nick Loftin (Baylor) was 3-4 with 2 RBI and a home run, Brooks Carlson (Samford) was 2-3 with an RBI, and Samuel Thoresen (Minnesota) went 5 innings only allowing 1 run on 1 hit. Keep a close eye on Loftin who has the second best batting average in the CCBL (.353).

This is a golden opportunity for the Gatemen to get the offense on track as the Harbor Hawks have a league worst team ERA (7.46). The pitching staff can build even more momentum after playing well yesterday as Hyannis has the 2ndto worst team batting average (.223).

On the mound for the Gatemen today is Brendan Cellucci (Tulane). Cellucci made his CCBL debut against the Chatham Anglers pitching 2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits.

As for Hyannis, Holt Jones is on the bump. Jones got shelled in his CCBL allowing 7 runs on 8 hits in only 1.1 innings of work.
