Gatemen travel to Harwich for double header against Mariners

HARWICH- Coming off their best offensive performance of the season the Gatemen look to carry that over to a double header against the Mariners with the first game scheduled for 3:00 p.m. 


The Wareham Gatemen currently sit atop the Western Division with a record of 11-8-1. Last night the Gatemen offense tallied 19 hits and several players stood out in a 14-5 victory over the Orleans Firebirds.


Braiden Ward led the offense going 6-6 on the night and was a triple shy of a cycle. Ian Bedell (Missouri) was great on the mound for the Gatemen going 5 innings only allowing 2 runs. Bedell has shined all year posting a 0.91 ERA in 19.2 innings.


Harwich is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Bourne Braves. The inconsistent pitching that was the downfall for the Mariners. Connor Sechler (Missouri State) went 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Cam Baumann (Iowa) went 4 innings not allowing a run on 3 hits. 


Harwich had 8 hits but couldn’t string the hits together when it mattered most. Christian Fedko (UCONN) stood out for the Mariners going 3-4 on the night and he is currently batting .390 After the loss yesterday Harwich sits in 5thplace in the Eastern Division with a record of 8-12. 


On the mound for Harwich in game 1 is Jacob Palisch (Stanford). Palisch is 1-1 on the season with an ERA of 1.80 in 10 innings pitched. As for the Gatemen, JP Gates (Miami) is on the mound. Gates is 0-1 and has an ERA of 4.50 in 6 innings pitched. 


For game 2 Michael Webb (Rhode Island College) is on the mound for the Gatemen. Webb has an ERA of 3.00 striking out 5 batters in 3 innings pitched. Joe Boyle (Notre Dame) will be on the mound for the Mariners. Boyle has a perfect ERA of 0 in 7 innings pitched.
